When I called to schedule my cruise I explained to them exactly what my family was looking for in a cruise. I explained that this was our families 1st cruise and the only place we wanted to go was the Bahamas, and the other islands would just be a bonus. I was asked if there was anything we were celebrating and I said why yes, ”it’s mine and my husband’s 15 year anniversary, and I just graduated Nursing school”. We found a date that Norwegian was scheduled for the Bahamas and booked my family’s 1st cruise.

I would like to explain to you several issues that my family encountered with Norwegian. We had 2 medical emergencies on the ship. Let me explain to you that the whole 13th floor is a medical center. The 1st medical emergency we had was the night before our depart to St. Thomas. That Captain made an overhead announcement that he was speeding up the boat to 35mph (normal speed is 25mph) to arrive at the island early, and no one was able to get off the ship unless there was a medical emergency because we would be arriving at 330am. Totally understandable! Then day 5 they made another announcement at 11am that there was another medical emergency the night before at 1230am and the Captain had to turn around the ship 110 miles to helicopter this patient to a hospital and we were no longer going to the Bahamas.

I was outraged, being that this was the only reason we booked this cruise. In the Atrium (there main hub) one of the employee said on a microphone “please everybody calm down, that you’re not missing anything”. Then he proceeds and says “can I get a raise of hands of the people that have been to Detroit, because if you have just add sand, and that’s the Bahamas! A dirty place”. I was totally offended by this! He continued on to explain that our port fees of $18 will be credited per person and that’s it because emergency’s happen. I really wish I would have recorded all of this because every employee I came across was rude and could care less that we were unable to make the Bahamas as they have been there a hundred times.
