Spent 3 days in San Juan prior to the cruise had a great time in old San Juan. It was our 5th Carnival Cruise, we picked it as we have heard in the past Carnival goes all out for their so called Journey Cruises and it had a good itinerary. We pushed out a cruise we had booked to next year, for the most part we wish we had not.

Embarkation was smooth, we were onboard by noon and in our room by 12:30. There was six of us and we were all on deck 7 balconies near midship. This was one ship you could not sleep in like previously mentioned balcony doors slamming all the time. For the food we will start with the positive, Guys Burgers was good, Pizza was good and breakfast and lunch in Lido deck was good for the most part. The dining rooming was another story. Again starting with the positive we had my time dining, when we were able to get table 196 the team was excellent serving us and did their best to deal with any issues quickly. Two other times on different tables service was terrible, we had the same experiences where we would get our appetizer, soup and salad show up all at the same time. Then desert orders being taken while we were still eating dinner and brought while still eating the main coarse.

For the most part meals were either under cooked or over cooked. The first meal in the dining room we had fried oysters as a appetizer, when you cut into them they bubbled or were too dry to cut. My sister oysters were off, the smell was terrible. She covered them up with her napkin and it took 30 mins before the wait staff removed it. Smell was so bad tables around us could smell it as well. The waiter did not even offer apology, just said she would let the chef know. For the most part meals were over cooked, only thing that was good was the melted chocolate cake. As previously mentioned the shooters were being forced on you. We made the mistake of trying them one night, then each night we ate in the dining room they were forced onto us, we would say no, but still they were served to us and a bill written up.
