For the first part of the journey we booked World Traveller Plus with BA. We had a stopover in Hong Kong before onward travel to Sydney. We were worried about the luggage allowance and my wife and I both checked with Princess Cruises a total of four times, just to ensure that we were getting the correct information. We were advised that the trip had been booked as one ticket and the luggage allowance relevant at the beginning of the trip would be the same all the way round. The information was apparently in the code number on our tickets. I work at the Edinburgh Airport just to make sure we had been given the correct information. Travel to Hong Kong fine. When we presented ourselves at Hong Kong for the next stage of our journey neither Quantas or BA's agents were aware of this arrangement and we were promptly charged £300 for excess luggage.
When we boarded Diamond Princess we went to reception and spoke to a Simon who seemed rather less than enthusiastic about our complaint. Ten days passed and we approached the desk three times for an answer. Eventually we approached Reception again and asked to speak to the Purser. We spoke to Amanda Pellow who is Senior Assistant Purser. She contacted her head office and advised that Princess Cruises are not responsible for the information they provide with regard to travel despite the fact that they are making the bookings on your behalf.
We have been really let down by all of this and this will be our last Princess cruise.
