Twelve night cruise, the ship is beautiful. Dining left something to be desired, changing dining rooms on rotation basis was a different experience, a definite step up from the Quantum experience. The food was just O.K., sometimes not hot when delivered, not much variation in the menu, always the same food. The pay for restaurants were much better in quality which was expected.
You MUST make your entertainment reservations before you go to get a good seat, if not you wait on the Q and get a last minute admission and scramble for seating usually somewhere behind an obstructed pole seating. The best show was We Will Rock You. Getting to use the other venues I-Fly, Bumper Cars and other venues were somewhat of a hassle.
Overall the ship is great we are going back in September for the Canadian cruise and are looking forward to it. I would recommend the Anthem for the experience, just plan ahead and enjoy the experience, it is a large ship and the ambience that I liked sailing on the Explorer with the friendly crew experience is missing. It was mentioned that changes were being planned, not specifically noted, just keep watching the Cruise Critic postings for more specifics and enjoy, we will.
Cabin was excellent, balcony was average in size, unobstructed, good viewing and comfortable.
Shopping port, some good values on silver jewelry, you had to bargain to buy. DO NOT ACCEPT FIRST PRICE.
Just stayed near ship
Took accessible van about One mile to museum and miniature copies of Mayan sites, was very nice. The miniatures could have been a cleaned up a lot better, leaves and mildew moss on them.
Took food tour outside gates, was very good, a different experience but worth it, it was escorted, didn't have any safety concerns. Probably would not have ventured outside on our own though.
Getting on the tender was interesting with a scooter, was a good experience.
Boarding was easy, dropped off luggage and parked in accessible area of garage. Check in was relatively easy, took only about a half hour, lucky there were short lines.
