This was my first cruise and I'm afraid I've been spoiled.
Embarkation was easy - staff were friendly and helpful and were able to answer all questions. I asked for a map/floor plan and was provided with one which was very helpful (even though there are floor plans at every elevator).
Our stateroom 15822 was ready to go right away and luggage was delivered within an hour or two.
Heads-up: you need to insert your room card in the reader on the inside of the room door to activate power and lights.
LOVED the room - everything clean, new, fully stocked and the bed was comfy. Great temperature control too. Lots of shelving/storage to unpack in, tucked the suitcases under the bed and had no issues with the size. The balcony was a nice size and being on deck 15 meant no staterooms above us and there was an overhang that provided more privacy. Bathroom was clean and roomy - I was actually able to see out the balcony from the shower - very cool.
I only walked into town to shop for souvenirs. I found it kinda dirty and riddled with strange locals that tried to sell, sell, sell. There was also a local vomiting loudly on the curb. Shoulda spent the extra and taken a cab to the beach or something haha. Weather was on the cool side too.
They're building new shops at the pier, but as of now, it seemed nothing was opened and it was really difficult to find nicer shops in town close to the pier - again, shoulda taken a cab somewhere nice.
We walked up to the Botanical Garden and paid $3 to walk through - it was just "ehn". I was most interested in the chickens and the cat that seemed to be buddies and very curious about the turtle in the pit.
Very nice excursion. Small group taken to Buck Island, provided with snorkeling equipment taught how to snorkel. Refreshments and snacks provided. Great guides.
