Sail Date: Mar 2009

We are mid 50's couple from Toronto, and were looking for a relaxing vacation. This was our second cruise on Celebrity, having done a Mediterranean cruise on the Millennium 3 years ago. It was also our first back-to-back sailing Feb.28 2009, since 7 days was too short, and the prices were just so reasonable that it made sense to stay on board for the next sailing.  Both sailings went to St. Martaan, Dominica and Greneda.  Bonaire and Aruba on the first, Tobago and Barbados on the second.  We had another couple join us for the second sailing.  Overall the cruise met our expectations and beyond.  Ship, crew, food, ports, activities, entertainment - were all very good, giving no reasons to complain.Pre-cruise we stayed at Courtyard Marriott in Miramar, which was close to the Pan American cruise terminal. We had a very comfortable king bed in the spotlessly clean room (#1002) as well as a nice view. There was not much to do in the evening, so we took a taxi to Condado ($10), walked on Ashford Ave. from Condado Beach Hotel to Radisson. Had late dinner in the outdoor patio next to Walgreens' (Koba Burger and Medalla beers). Got caught in showers on the way back but a passing taxi "rescued" us. The hotel's continental breakfast buffet $9 was pretty good ($9) but full buffet is pricey at $17. We spent the morning walking to the Caribe Hilton to check out the impressive grounds. It's a good 20 minute walk. Around 1:00 pm we took a taxi from the hotel to the port. It was a short ride ($12 plus $1 per suitcase, but the driver tried to charge more). It is within walking distance if you don't have to carry luggage.

Embarkation was a breeze. We had cabin #2048 (ocean view). The layout for 4 people is somewhat different than cabins for 2 people (no bunk beds). DW thought having the table (rather than the bed) near the window was nicer. TV has few channels (ESPN and CNN International with lots of repeat clips). Our cabin attendant Peter from India was great in every respect. For example I noticed one of the drapes was missing hooks, which made it awkward to close. Within a few hours Peter had it replaced. We got books from the ship's library, including a travel guide book covering the Caribbean ports of call.

We enjoyed the Enrichment series. Topics in the first week - latin dances and instruments. In the second week - history of the various Caribbean islands. Wii bowling was also fun. As the ship was sailing off one afternoon we were allowed on the Helipad. The access door is from the 5th level Celebrity Theatre door. A new cast started on the second week, but the productions were the same. We took a free computer class - "web sites you should know about". At the end we were allowed about 15 minutes of free internet access. Duty Free liquor prices on ship: they will match any price from the promotion flyer from any port of call, even the one from San Juan duty free shop given out as you board at the terminal.

Cabin Review

Cabin OV

Wow. I submitted this idea last week and here it is!

Excellent soundproofing in cabin walls, but some noise comes from the corridors (gap under the door). Location is very good. Decent size shower, but curtain clings to body (curved railing would have solved this). Good size window. In our layout (with top bunks) the king bed is against the window. We would have preferred to have the table in that space.
