I usually do not bother to write a review, however this trip deserves one. We chose the norweigian escape because it is the newest and one of the largest cruise ships, and it was going to stop in the Bahamas. I was going to Alantis! Yah! I will say it was very large with a lot of activities and resturants. We had a room with a balcony which was very nice and housekeeping did an excellent job keeping the room clean with plenty of towels. All that being said we were had a disappointing trip. First, we had a package that included 4 complimentary meals at speciality restaurants, unlimited drink package and 250 minutes of free Internet . Upon arrival we checked to make sure all these were accurate. We were told it was all correct. Day 2 we were charged $125 for the Internet after 12 minutes of use. Even though we had the contract with us showing the Internet package we were still charged.

The restaurants looked exegant and the staff was wonderful. The food lacked quite a bit. It was more cafeteria style. The food at The Savor was being brought out in stacked cover dishes such as at the hospital. The burger at Margaritavilla made me sick after about 15 minutes. I've been to several Margaritaville restaurants, now I think it will take a while to get over that burger.

Apparently during the 4th night someone got ill. I'm very sorry for their misfortune. They went to within 100 miles of Pureto Rico to drop them off to a lifeboat. Due to this we did not get to go to the Bahamas. Our money for the excursion was refunded but no other consideration was made for the rest of the 4800 passengers. There was many things they could have done to make this misfortune up to the passengers. A slight refund, on board spending, maybe a little discount on another cruise but nothing was offered and many were counting on this excursion. Many complaints were heard that we should have gotten to stop in Pureto Rico at least. According to the navagation channel, it the captain slowed down from the 35 knots on the way there to 9 knots coming back just so we didnt get back early. Just 4 days on the ship. After a while that gets boring. We could see an island from the ship which was probably the Bahamas. If he had went at the same speed we probably could have made the stop with little delay.

Tortola

We walked around the town and took a few photos . Nothing exciting

St. Thomas

The beach was small and crowded. A bottle of water was $5. The shopping trip included an area of many many jewelry stores. Not too exciting.
