We spent a week in New Orleans before ending out vacation with a quick 4 day cruise to Cozumel. We sailed on the Fascination last year, Elation's sister ship and enjoyed it. Too bad Elation didn't have the added on balconies like her sister, so we opted for an ocean view. More on that in the room review.

First, let me say that the service and the workers on the ship were excellent. One of the main reasons I like Carnival is it's staff. They are all professional, funny, friendly and quick. Gede our cocktail waiter on the Lido Deck was awesome (more on this later too). Gavin our waiter in the showroom and Puma and Georges our waiters in the dining room, all awesome. I forgot our cabin stewards name, but he kept our room in tip top shape.

The food was excellent in the dining room. For some reason this time the food seemed *off* in the buffet. Couldn't put my finger on it, but it just wasn't as good as other cruises. It wasn't bad, just ehhhh, it's ok. One complaint. For some reason, they turned the coffee and beverage machines off on the Lido deck by the grill at 830pm or so. So if you wanted coffee (big coffee drinker) you had to trudge all the way into the buffet and then back to the smoking area. On the Fascination, it was 24/7.

Cabin 6B

Cabin was clean. Seemed a bit dated, but for a 25 year old girl, not bad. The life jacket box was in the most inconvenient place ever. I was at the bottom corner of the bed, so you either had to straddle the thing to get out of bed or crawl over my partner. She wasn't happy about that, so I got to do nightly gymnastics. Medicine cabinet didn't close right. Cabin steward was great, and room was kept spotless. We we're right off the main lobby and bank of elevators, and surprisingly, there was no issue with noise at all.

Port Reviews

Cozumel

We didn't take an excursion, just explored a bit on our own. Cozumel is beautiful!

New Orleans

We didn't take an excursion, was on vacation for the week prior to our cruise. New Orleans is an amazing city. Looking forward to going back for a few days prior to our cruise on the Dream next January.
