My boyfriend and I took a cruise together on Oasis back in January. It was our first vacation together. This was my second cruise, my first being on Carnival Glory several years ago. My boyfriend has been on several cruises, on both Royal Caribbean and Disney. He had never been on Oasis, however, and we were incredibly excited to sail on the biggest cruise ship in the world.

We stayed in Ft. Lauderdale the night before embarkation at the Best Western Oceanside Inn. Very clean, pretty, and affordable. Had breakfast there and took a shuttle from the hotel to the port at 10:30 am. The shuttle was around $10 a person.

At the port, the attendants took our luggage and we went into the terminal around 11:30 am. We checked in and were directed to sit in the terminal. Not even ten minutes later, we were directed onto the ship. EXTREMELY fast and easy! The first thing you see getting onto the ship is the Royal Promenade. It's very overwhelming, but beautiful. We explored the ship for the majority of the afternoon, since our room wasn't ready and the luggage hadn't arrived. Room was ready around 1:00 pm, luggage didn't arrive until after the ship disembarked, which was expected.

Large Interior Stateroom

Cabin M

Very nice, it suited us well. Our cabin steward, Maria, was fantastic and very helpful. The bed was very comfortable, and there was plenty of room to move around. The shower was very warm, great water pressure. I never felt claustrophobic or anything like that. We would like to get a balcony next time, though, because we would like to be able to sit on one at night.

Port Reviews

St. Maarten

Best bang for your buck. Took a water taxi (unlimited use all day for $9 a person) to the main drag across the bay. Paid $25 for two cushioned beach chairs, umbrella, 5 drinks and wifi. Went swimming, water was great but BEWARE of a very strong rip current and undertow! Ate lunch at The Hardrock Café, which was very yummy. Did some shopping and took the taxi back to the ship. Nice and easy day.

Nassau

Went to Junkanoo Beach. Very crowded and overpriced for rentals. Went to the Pirates of Nassau museum, which is great! Highly recommended. Overall, not my favorite port.

St. Thomas

Took a safari-truck to Magen's Bay. Beautiful! I've been here once before and it was just as fantastic as I remembered. Very crowded, with limited beach because it was high tide. Ate lunch at the snack shack there. The pizza was cheap and very good.

Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

Stayed at the Best Western Plus Oceanside Inn the night before embarkation. Very nice, clean hotel that was affordable. Had breakfast there in the morning and they provided a shuttle to the port for $10 per person.
