Didn't have high expectations for this 3 night Ensenada cruise, but have been on many cruises and thought "how bad can it be?" Unfortunately, it was worse than expected. The Carnival Imagination is in desperate need of an overhaul. There were lots of little things that added up to a poor experience - things like filthy upholstery in the dining room, musty smelling and torn carpet everywhere on the ship, burned out lightbulbs and half-working neon signs everywhere, broken machines at the buffet, cracked and worn fixtures in the room, stained bedding, a rusty faucet in the bathroom, clogged showerheads, suspicious and bland food, etc. I can overlook those things individually, but everything together was too much. The sum total is that it was basically gross. Ensenada is a seedy tourist trap, so even the day off the ship was bad. Overall - shocked that Carnival is allowing their brand to degrade to this level.

Port Reviews

Ensenada

Walked along first street. Lots of shops offering over the counter prescription medication and other seedy things. Aggressive shopkeepers trying to lure you in to every shop became tiresome and took the fun out of any of it. I was glad we didn't have kids with us.

Los Angeles

Long Beach was a good and efficient departure port.
