My wife and I cruised the Western Caribbean on the NCL Getaway from 2/28-3/6/2016. We chose to upgrade from an inside cabin to a Spa Balcony Stateroom cabin 14714. Oh my gosh! It was beautiful. The ship is amazing. It was built in 2014 and is in excellent condition from top to bottom. Looking at some of the negative reviews I can only shake my head. Whiners are gonna whine. On every ship you will see folks that just cannot be happy. Avoid them like the plague. Just sayin’.
Positives: The crew and staff were wonderful. There were very few general announcements during the day which was nice. We do not gamble or go to the extra cost restaurants so cannot comment. As you can probably guess, we did not have access to the Haven area as well.
Dining: The three main dining room restaurants, Savor, Taste and the Tropicana Room were wonderful. We like to dance and enjoy the live music in the Tropicana Room and ended up having four of our dinners there. We usually each had two appetizers, the main meal and one or two deserts. Yum, yum. The Garden Café was our spot for breakfast and many lunches. It was always good with plenty of eating areas.
Starboard cabin. Large enough for the wife and I. King size bed. Shower was good and water pressure very good considering we were on the 14th floor. View from the balcony was crazy great. Balcony had two chairs and a small table. Room was quiet, ships motion was minimal and room was well lit. Room was clean and furniture and all in excellent condition.
Fun, safe and memorable
Fun
Excellent. Professional crew who focused on safety and fun.
Beautiful island. Tons of beach lounges and areas to "chill". There are nice, level hiking trails nearby as well.
The Miami Ship Terminal is clean and efficient. There is a two-story parking garage for those that choose to drive. NCL's shuttle service from Miami International Airport worked very well both going to the ship and back to the airport.
