Sail Date: Mar 2016

Having travelled a few weeks earlier on Pacific Eden with my husband and another couple, and enjoying the experience so much, I decided to take my elderly mother on the same ship. She had not been on a cruise ship for about 40 years. From the moment I drove onto the pier with my mum, we were treated like royalty. Being a little frail and unsteady when walking, my mother was assisted out of my car into a wheelchair and whisked into the terminal while I found a place to park for the 3-day duration of the cruise.

When I caught up with my mother upstairs in the terminal, she was being minded by the P&O assistant who then helped us register our arrival. Every single assistant at the embarkation was super friendly. The P&O assistant wheeled my mother thru customers and right onto the ship where we made our own way to our stateroom and the assistant returned the wheelchair to the pier.

Having travelled a few weeks earlier with my husband, we were thrilled to be upgraded from a deck 5 outside stateroom to a deck 9 balcony. My mother was thrilled to be able to sit on the balcony and observe the beautiful vista of the comings and goings on the pier with the magnificent backdrop of the city of Melbourne. I picked up some great fish and chips and a glass of wine from the pantry and brought them back to the stateroom and we dined right there on the balcony. It was midnight as we went thru the heads and I was able to get her back inside the cabin.

Cabin Review

Cabin Balcony stateroom

Large size, tons of storage space with so many beautiful wooden hangers, relatively large bathroom, bath edge a bit high but there are three stainless steel supports to assist getting in and out, room serviced twice daily (before 2pm) and again in the evening, very large balcony with two deck chairs - the coffee table in the cabin is not bolted to the floor and can be easily taken out on the balcony for when snacking, clean little fridge, ice bucket refilled when required, many lights throughout room, very comfortable beds and pillows, large leather couch which can be opened up for as additional bed space. Fabulous room.
