We are experienced cruisers with many cruises on many lines, but mainly Holland America.
Embarkation and disembarkation went well.
Shore excursions were as usual, and as usual it was cheaper and better to organise your own if feasible.
Cabin was a standard balcony cabin. It was quiet and had no ongoing problems. It was, however grubby and in need of renovation. The steward was fine.
A large clean city. Easy to get around on the MTR. Gardens by the Bay well worth a visit. Also the Bird Park
Interesting commentary on the way to the island. Very few orangutans however.
Ship transfer to the town way overpriced. Get a taxi from the gate.
Nice beach to walk around and good local food.
We went to crab island (Pulau Ketam) near the port. Attractive fishing village with great seafood. Not a cruise passenger in sight. Way better than a long drive to KL, which we have visited many times and is rather boring.
A great port for independant travellers to stay overnight and see the pagodas, market, circle train trip (3 hours) etc. Easy to get a taxi at the port gate, and good hotels available to be booked online.
