I've cruised quite a bit, this is my first Celebrity trip. We had a veranda room and fixed dining.
I love the traditional feeling of an older boat, as long as it is kept in pristine condition. for its age, I was pleasantly surprised that the toilets didn't smell, there was a little rust here and there but it's a ship on salt water. The feel of wood cabinetry is cool even if the accessories are outdated in the closet.i was really put off by the torn beds hams, I mean really torn. Can anyone tell me what the metal contraption that folds down on each side is? I used it for drying laundry, it was perfect.
So much for the banter. Our dining room table was next to two tables of Russians who (in order), ate appetizers with vodka, entrees with vodka, desserts with more vodka. Well, they really didn't eat after the appetizers, they alternated going to each others' tables beating their chests, talking loudly, toasting every shot of vodka and singing songs from the motherland. Cute the first night but it happened every single night, according to out table mates and other table "neighbors." No one enjoyed their antics, and the m'aitre de wouldn't reconfigure the tables to provide the least amount of disruption. So, we ended up "dining" upstairs at the "cafeteria." I can't really complain about food that is cooked for me because I don't cook. But, tilapia sushi? It was really hard to find something that wasn't overcooked or just not appetizing. The steak at the "grill" at the back of the cafeteria was so marbled with fat. And when is Orange Pot de Creme, orange jell-o with orange pudding on top?
