Had a very relaxing cruise. The ease and draw for us is the Galveston location. Beautiful seas, mostly sunny days. Freedom was OK we did not have any really big complaints but not the best ship, it did the job for us in terms of easy to get to. This is our second Freedom cruise our 11th overall cruise.
The servers are not as friendly as on other cruises but oh well. The ship was clean, the food typical, the soft serve ice cream flowing and Guy's Burgers awesome. We did eat at the Steakhouse twice which was excellent and very relaxing (worth it). Our room steward was quick when cleaning and our room was always tended to it when we were out. Our bed was comfortable and of course we love the balcony. We brought a "noise fan" to block out any outside sound. The room was really in a quiet location. We were on the 8th floor last time and you could hear chair moving noises from the crew setting up each early morning on the deck above. The ship could use some updating and more shops on board.
We found getting on and off the ship was so easy - they get kudos for that - so does Galveston. The stop in Cozumel was easy on and off. We decided to make this an excursion free cruise so shopping and walking around was our agenda. Cayman was a tendered trip and that was also quite easy. More walking and shopping. Jamaica, well that was a different story. The bus you take to town (I would take a taxi next time $7.00pp) was not what we expected. The fee was $7.00 a person to take you to "town" but the traffic was at a crawl and on the way the "hostess" wanted all of us to allow them to be their main source of transportation for $25.00...uh no thank you, tooooo many stops! We were dropped off at Margaritaville, the area was so depressing so we left. We found a driver (Peter) to take us back to the ship. He was amazing and gave us a mini-tour of Montego Bay...that was my favorite thing we did in Jamaica!
Walked around shops, same stuff etc.
Walked around shops then back to ship.
did not to excursion. Port experience to town not good.
I love Galveston! The Strand is great for walking and shopping. Plenty to eat everywhere.
