Cabin: Junior Suite

My wife and I have cruised on Carnival, NCL and Royal Caribbean many times and have elite status on RCL. We chose this cruise for the itinerary and the price. We booked a junior suite for less than the cost of a balcony cabin on the RCL ship with the same itinerary. We had an another couple join us for this cruise whom were a bit concerned about booking on carnival They now want to go on Carnival again.

My wife and I arrived the day before and stayed at the Holiday Inn Miami airport and arranged transfers from Hotel to port of Miami the following day. Transfer went smooth to port and we were quickly ushered to a lounge (Junior Suite) and processed in 5 minutes. Ship is older but clean and in good shape. The cabin was very nice and roomy with plenty of storage space. There was a vanity area off the bathroom which had a jetted tub and double sinks. We found plenty to do even though we are not one's to sit around pool and drink. The spa area and gym were very nice with a nice hot tub and steam room and sauna also all at no additional charge The musical shows and special effects in the evening were some of the best I have ever seen on a cruise ship. The piano bar singer was very good also. There were several other guitar singers that were pretty good playing in the casino and lobby bar. there someone singing in the casino every night. The casino on this ship is very large and it was packed a lot of the time, yet there was always space at some of the tables. We found that overall the service from all the crew to be very good. The food on the lido deck dining buffet was not very good for breakfast but was very good for lunch. Blue Iguana and Guy's burgers were very good but the shinning star for lunch was the Deli with made to order deli sandwiches. We ate in the main dining room (Golden) all but one night and found the food to be excellent. Between the four of us we sampled and ordered many different dishes and all were of very high quality. Quite amazing actually, and far superior to what we normally get in the main dinning room on RCL ships. The wine menu was good and prices were fair. We did the Chef's table one night with the kitchen tour. The food was off the charts with I think 7 courses. There was unlimited red and white wines which were nothing special but adequate. The magician for entertainment was excellent also. The bar service was very quick most of the time and the quality of the cocktails very good. Disembarkation went smoothly as did self assist with our bags at about 8am getting through customs and into a taxi by 8:30 am. Checked in at airport and was through security by 9:15 am to catch our American airlines flight at 11:05 am with plenty of time to spare.

Shore excursions: We did top 10 of Roatan and I would give it 3 stars. Probably would do West End beach if in Roatan again. Belize did the Jaguar cave and Darknight tubing with lunch which was very good value for the money. Good food (rice and beans and chicken) basic Belizean food, 4 stars.
