My mom, dad, and I all went on the Independence of the Seas in February. The ship was absolutely incredible! There are so many events and activities on board that you can't possibly do them all. My personal favorites include the rock wall, surf simulator, mini golf course, movie screen pool, and ice skating rink. For adults, they have a casino and great places to eat. This ship is suited for the whole family.
The cruise director, Ricky, was an absolute joy to see. It was like having our own personal comedian and announcer every show we went to! The food was incredible, and they even have a kids menu for your little ones who might be a little more picky than you. I would highly suggest sticking to a time you want to eat and not do "My Time Dining", because you really become close friends with the other people at your table. By the end of the five night cruise, our family and the family sitting with us were very close.
The only downside to this cruise is the pricing. They don't tell you every detail on their website about the drink package, which at minimum, costs about 10-20 dollars per person per day. They make it sound like you NEED the drink packages to get remotely good drinks. They serve iced tea, water, lemonade, and different fruit juices every day at the buffet... For free!
Honestly, the room was very small for the three of us. We weren't in the room a lot though, so there is really no complaining! I loved having an inside room with no windows because it was VERY DARK when you sleep, which is very nice. Sometimes hard to get up to use the bathroom though, haha!
If you don't have an excursion, this is a very scary place to be. We wanted to see outside of the shopping areas (they were just jewelry stores) so we went outside the gated area. All of a sudden, locals started bombarding us asking us if we wanted their items or a taxi. They wouldn't take no for an answer. We said no, but it was very hard for us to keep walking because they kept asking and asking. Also, I'm not 100 percent sure, but Im thinking the "cops" there weren't really cops.
Awesome experience! The Arawak Aqua Park is a water park that is made up of inflatables. They have water trampolines, huge blow up rockfalls, and giant blow up slides. Highly impressed, and after an hour, you get very tired.
Very, very good experience. The ziplining was incredible, but we only got to do it once. And it was 100 dollars a person! For a family of three we spend over 300 dollars for one trip down. Besides the money aspect, it was very fun and beautiful.
