The Gauguin has a reputation for ultra-luxury, on which it is clearly riding, at this point.
The ship shows its age, outdated décor, faded carpeting, carpet coming up at the seams in main dining room; wooden frame around the pool is not well maintained. One engine went out, necessitating missing one island (there was compensation of $200 ship credit per person).
Food is uneven. Staff, as typical for cruises, are lovely.
