Ship Facts: Monarch of the Seas Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Monarch of the Seas Deck Plans
Monarch wasn't up to par
Hi... Let me begin that I was with a honeymoon group of 30 people sailed on the Monarch of the Seas Feb 27th out of Port canaveral.

Personal Background Information

I am a travel agent and booked 20 cabins on the Monarch for Feb 27, 09. My 24 yr old daughter and 21 yr old son joined me on the cruise.

Embarkation

Boarding of the wedding party was great. The wedding planning people were great. We boarded quickly

Stateroom was great, clean and functional

Ship Info

Ship was very clean, but didn't see people cleaning throughout like I have seen on Holland America.

Dining

This was one of the worst parts. The quality of the food was horrible. You can really tell that the economy is hitting RC.

Entertainment

The entertainment was ok, but nothing to write home about.

Shore Excursions

The shore excursions were great, but the cost of even renting snorkeling equipment was too much.

Disembarkation

Disembarkation was great, but the toilets didn't work for 30 minutes! They were backed up!

Summary

Unfortunately, the staff person who was playing the wedding music messed up...Bride wasn't happy!

Then the photographer...RC prevents outside photog from coming..so have to use RC photographer...He didn't have a high tech camera...so pics came out bad...Bride mad again... Then when the bride went to buy pics...the RC photog people wouldn't let her buy the ones she wanted..wouldn't compromise all...Bride mad again...

Nassau was ok Coco Cay was ok, but only 1000 guys walking around saying, "Coco Loco"..."Island Drink". Where were those people in the Windjammer and Jade when we needed service?

RC better get more people in the Windjammer and Jade (lido deck to those of us who like HAL).

There were very few people serving in the Windjammer and Jade. And those that were mostly didn't make eye contact, or offer to get a cup of coffee...Only 3 people in the Windjammer during our 3 night cruise were nice...most others were stand off ish...

The quality of the food is horrible. RC better fix it or they will lose customers. The steak at dinner was horrible...the chicken marsala was horrible.

Then when we docked back at port c...the toilets didn't flush for 30 minutes. Nice job on preventing shipboard sickness there RC. I will not sail on that ship again and I probably won't sail on RC again. I certainly won't be putting groups on RC until they increase the level of quality. I will be watching posts here on the cruise critic boards!
