We have been on quite a few cruises in the past but this was the first in almost 7 years. We have cruised on several different lines but have always preferred Celebrity. Although we are retired, my husband has several part time positions so we are a bit limited as to when we can get away. We chose this particular one because it was at the right time and going to ports we had not visited before with the exception of Grand Cayman.

We arrived at the port via hotel shuttle at about 10:55 and we were on board by 11:15! We were in a sky suite and were able to walk right up to the agents/staff for the boarding process and then directly onto the ship. We were greeted with champagne and were able to "tour" the ship practically by ourselves. We went to the Excursion Desk and booked our excursions with no wait and checked out the specialty restaurants and made some reservations. We had lunch at the Ocean View Cafe and got into our room around 2:00.

Our room was wonderful. We were in 1250 and had tons of living space as well as storage. We loved the bathroom with the rain shower (we have one at home but we liked this one better!) We had a tub and the bathroom was very good size, beautifully decorated and again a lot of storage space. We had a large balcony with two chairs with stools and nice table. Our butler Robert was great. He delivered canapés, fruit, pastries and shrimp cocktail every afternoon as well as fresh squeezed orange juice. Our room was always serviced by the maid and her assistant at our convenience.

Port Reviews

Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

Our embarkation was extremely quick and easy. All staff was very friendly and helpful.

Cozumel

Nice boat ride and private beach.

Colon (Cristobal)

Great boat ride on the lake and a very interesting visit to the Gatun locks. The locks were more interesting than we expected. Long, slow bus rides were a negative.

Cartagena (Colombia)

Tour consisted of a boat ride in the harbor and a guided tour of the old city. Guides were informative. Street hawkers were annoying but did not ruin our visit.

Grand Cayman (Georgetown)

Somewhat chaotic at first due to alternate landing site for tenders due to weather. However, boat ride was as expected and swimming with the Stingrays is a "must do" on Grand Caymen. Guides were friendly and accommodating.
