This sailing on the Dawn was our 11th cruise and the 3rd out of New Orleans with this itinerary. This was just a "get away for a week" cruise. We did not go to do things at each port, but instead we got off the ship and shopped. The embarkation went fairly smooth with just about minimal time waiting at check-in. The long lines were at security, but it was a necessary evil. We were on board in about 30 minutes. Once we were on board, we went straight to our cabin and dropped off our carry-on. We got to meet our cabin steward and made any special request of him. We then started the eating cycles.

The ship itself was in pretty good shape and was clean & well taken care of. I believe that it is scheduled for a refurbishment and there were a few spots that could us it. Over all I would sail on her again, just as she is today.

Our cabin steward did his job well and there were towel animals every night. Our cabin was kept very clean and at one time I think we had 3 sets of towels in the bathroom. He took care of us with lots of ice and the clean cabin.

Oceanview Picture Window

We booked an ocean view porthole guaranteed and got an ocean view picture window. Not too bad for a last minute booking. Room was clean and had enough space for 2, 3 might have been a little crowded. Room steward did a great job
