We took the opportunity to travel with Celebrity because we had been thrilled in the past with our experience...Not only was the direct flight/ Book and Go disappointing ( cancelled by Celebrity and were not allowed to book our own flights without losing the perks that came with this arrangement/the additional credits were overkill and did not compensate for the lack of assistance in Ft. Lauderdale when our late pm trip back to Toronto( booked by Celebrity) was delayed 3 hours. ).
The ship is beautiful, daytime entertainment was varied and the food was good. Deck, bar and lounge service was extremely slow and " robotic"/impersonal...most of the time we could have gotten our drinks quicker ourselves and wiped the tables ourselves...maybe this is what happens with prepaid gratuities or is Celebrity just cutting service staff ??
There is virtually no entertainment/dancing venue for the "mature traveler" (45+)....after 9:30/10pm. One eve offered a 70's/90's disco type venue which was so small and packed and hot ( yes,Celebrity, your 45/50+ cruisers do like to stay up after 10pm), that we left after about 20 mins. My husband was wearing a suit, brought along for the " formal " evening which no longer exists..leave your dressy clothes at home because 'evening chic' as they call it is basically a dress free for all...yup..Hawaiian shirts and sandals in the dining room..Looking for an alternate place to dance was pointless b/c there is nothing later in the eve unless you are part of the techno/hihop under 35 crowd...Large dance floor on Deck 15 empty..until the under 35ers come out ..I never thought I would go back to Holland America to have fun and still enjoy the "cruise experience:, but that is exactly what I'm doing in Feb./17.
Cabin was comfortable and well maintained.
