The second cruise after the dry dock, and they were still working on the ship! No washers or dryers, painting the baseboards, areas on deck partitioned off with plastic, food not that well presented or tasty. The crew was not familiar with the ship, and we were all awakened by the PA system in the middle of the night with a 'medical emergency'. That doesn't instill confidence for the passengers, if they can't even figure out the PA system. Mostly, we could not hear any announcements in our cabin. The people hosting trivia didn't seem to want to even be there. I would have loved to teach them English as a Second Language. The rules for trivia changed from one person to the next. And after spending hours playing Trivia, the 'prizes' were awful. No t-shirts in size large! None to buy in the onboard boutique, either.
The land tours were poorly described and of course, overpriced. The attitude of the Discoveries Land Tour personnel was poor, as was that of the guest relations desk.
The refit of the ship was hodge-podge, with the rooms a mishmash of old and new. The uncomfortable chairs in the Cabaret Lounge were left unchanged, while the chairs in the main dining room were impossible to move without assistance. Cabin service was inconsistent. It was as if this crew had never sailed before. The carpeting is awful, and very smelly. The updated decor of the ship ruined the soul of this once great vessel.
Old desk with door falling off hinges, along with new wallpaper, carpeting and new lighting. Old closers. Updated bathroom, without a clothesline to dry things on. Dirty balcony, with uncomfortable chairs. New bed very firm!
