I have cruised on other cruise lines before and I must admit I was excited to try Royal Caribbean. That was short lived. There were a number of problems that occurred on our sailing. It was myself, husband and our two teenage daughters that went on Grandeur of the Seas. The problems started at check in and continued through our cruise. I had checked the guidelines as our daughter had just turned 16 if a government issued Sheriffs ID would work, I was told it would along with her birth certificate. When I got to the check in line, I was questioned since she had just turned 16 that she needed a drivers license. Literally she just turned 16, 5 days before our cruise.
Once that was cleared up, we went on board purchased shore excursions for the two teenagers who were going on a Teen only adventure on Coco Cay, we asked if there were any waivers etc they said no... Gave us directions and tickets. My daughters had to go off on the first tender boat as they had excursions and we did not our tender number was 7, when we caught up with them they did not do any activities because the waivers weren't signed.
then, the Worst part of the trip. We and another Tender boat were tossed around out the Caribbean sea for 3-4 hours because they had a "sudden storm approach" The crew once the boat's were finally able to be secured for disembarkation were wonderful, however, they cared more about your sea pass and your beach towels, then how you were after floating around for 3-4 hours. Not one person asked my self or any member of my family if they were okay. The night before the cruise ended which was 3 or more days after then event, we got a message on our phone apologizing and if we had any concerns they wanted to hear them, so I attempted to reach purser's desk via phone, told she knew nothing there were notes and was rude. Then, I went up the guest services desk in person, the staff was sympathetic and concerned but, said that we should follow up with Royal Caribbean directly.
Cabin was neat and orderly. No concerns with the cabin nor the Cabin Steward. He was attentive and kind.
Nice area in the inner Harbor. Plenty to see and do.
Had a nice time, enjoyed time with the family and re-connected. You are never to old to go to Disney!
