We sailed on the Inaugural Cruise of the Independence. We boarded the ship in Providence RI and were greeted by an enthusiastic, energetic crew. Also on board were company executives who wanted to ensure we had a top notch trip. Our on board expert was Sam Ladley. He was great! Throughout our cruise, Mr Ladley shared his considerable knowledge of the area. He was always available for questions and his stories and perspective added so much to our adventure! We enjoyed the shore excursions and felt there were plenty of options available. As we toured Nantuckett and Martha's Vineyard on board coaches, we had tour guides who were excited to show us their area. Since we were exploring, Maine we had a lobster bake. Due to inclement weather, the lobster bake was moved to the ship's dining room, but we still had a wonderful meal and got a good feel for what a lobster bake was like. Our tour of Acadia was the highlight of the cruise with it's magnificent scenery and views.
The service on board the ship was outstanding. The crew had been well trained in what it means to provide exemplery customer service. They really knew how to anticipate a passenger's wants and needs. The food was fabulous. In the mornings we could ask for something special (ie shrimp cocktail) for the evening meal and even if it was not on the menu, they delivered. You could order as much or as little as desired without a hassle. The meals were tasty and the presentation appealing.
The evening's began with a fun cocktail hour where we shared our day with new friends. After dinner avtivities included talks or local entertainment. There was always plenty to do.
