We have been on 23 cruises and a variety of cruise lines including, Seabourn, Silver Seas, Crystal and Celebrity and Cunard, so we feel qualified to compare and comment. This was our second Oceania cruise, the first being on Regatta from Montreal to Miami in October 2015.

The two reasons my wife and I took this cruise was (a) to see the Mayan ruins and learn something of their culture, and (b) to get some winter sun. We were satisfied with what we saw and learnt (despite the unreasonable cost of the tours), but disappointed by the unseasonably bad weather, which of course had nothing to do with the ship.

The ship itself is beautiful, very elegant and tastefully finished. We found it significantly superior to Regatta which is older and smaller. In our opinion the size of the ship (1200passengers) is just right. The staterooms are adequate and the bathrooms larger than many other ships (including Regatta).

Cabin A1

The cabin was a good size with adequate storage space. The bathroom was bigger than many other cruise ships, but the shower cabinet a bit small. We were mid-ships and in easy reach of amenities.

Port Reviews

Miami

Boarded the ship. We are frequent travellers to South Florida and enjoy Greater Miami

Grand Cayman (Georgetown)

Not a lot there for us. We are not beach people and the shops are repeats of most other Caribbean islands.

Belize City

This was over-priced and not worth the experience. Compared with the Everglades private airboat this was poor. I have to say the weather was awful and this tour should have been cancelled. We went to see the manatees and saw none!

The weather was so bad and the sea was so rough that this port should have been cancelled. We took our life into our hands going ashore on a Belician tender. The trip was five miles and the sea so rough that we got soaked as the waves came in and we were thrown around like a cork on the ocean. There is nothing to see in this port.

Roatan

Not a lot to see. Not value for money. We saw a few indigenous animals behind wire.

Costa Maya

This was one of the things we had come on the cruise for. The ruins were well worth seeing and the guide very knowledgable.

Key West

Always a nice place to stop if you enjoy shopping.
