My wife and I took this cruise because it sailed out of New Orleans (Mardi Gras!) and because of the iteniary ( stops at Cozemel, Costa Maya, Belize and Roatan). The Dawn is a sister ship to the Norewgian Star, which we have sailed numerous times out of California, so we were very familiar with the layout. Embarkation went fine with exception of the security check which took awhile.
Overall, the Dawn was nice and clean, but it was obvious that there were areas where maintainence needed to be addressed, and apparently, it will be in dry dock for refurbishment in the near future. Service overall was very good. The band by the pool was very good playing a wide variety of reggae music. Ariel (the piano man) at Gatsby's was great too( music of the Rat Pack). Saw a couple of shows, Elements and the magician David da VInci which were entertaining. No complaints with the food, 2 dinners at Cagney's, 2 dinners at La Cucina and 2 at the Versailes, all very good. We had the drink package included with our fare, which was a great deal. Pretty much all of their liquors were included in the package along with a wide variety of beers and wines up to $15 in value. Oddly, bottled water was not included. No problem, we purchased water while on shore and brought it on the ship.
We had a balcony cabin which was clean and in good order. 1 outlet in the main cabin and 1 in the bathroom. Another outlet in the main cabin would have been nice.
Nice and clean, plenty of room and storage for 2. A total of 2 outlets, 1 in the main cabin and 1 in the bathroom. The bed is fairly hard and not particularly comfortable.
Relaxing Day.
Long day, but fun and adventurous.
