SAILING FULL SPEED FOR 24 HOURS DIRECTLY INTO A HURRICANE FORCE STORM:
Ok so how can I write a review without talking about the storm? Down below is my honest opinion of what we had the opportunity to experience aboard Anthem for the first time. During the storm (we were on Deck 12 Starboard Aft), we knew things were really bad. Our cabin steward even stopped by and told us while they were doing everything they could, that this was all in "God's hands". My husband and I were not confident we were going to live and all we could do was try to keep his niece calm. This whole situation should NEVER have happened and someone somewhere made a potentially life jeopardizing decision over all of us. We honestly thought the abandon ship call was coming at any minute during some parts of the 12 hours and we knew there were no lifejackets in our stateroom. I found out later that Anthem does not have enough lifeboats for 6,000 souls (there is a different evacuation for crew which could not have been deployed during the storm). Thank goodness it didn't come to evacuating! We are thankful to be home and hope that an investigation will force cruise lines to never repeat this again with any cruise ship. Thank you to the US Coast Guard who "sent us their regards".
...... IT'S REVIEW TIME ......
DECK 12 AFT STARBOARD: Probably one of the best cabins we've ever stayed in compared to other cruise lines, cruise ships, etc. Very spacious, modern, clean, enormous TV, huge balcony with foot rests, plenty of storage, and they even trust you with the REAL hangers in the closets.
