This was our first time on Independence of the seas but our 5th cruise with RCL. We regrettably switched from Freedom on the seas to Independence because of the dates. This was a vacation that had been planned for a year from when we booked it on the fabulous ship Explorer of the Seas. The ship was decorated beautifully for the holidays. The ship never seemed crowded, except on sea days with the ridiculous chair hogs and children running around unsupervised by the pool. This cruise was not the delightful experience that we have had on the past cruise and that made us unhappy. We have always been loyal to RCL but will explore other cruise lines for a future vacation after Oasis. Good customer service is ignored and I noticed it frequently. It depended on who you were on this last cruise whether or not you got superior service or not. The many, many cutbacks are unmistakable, especially in the quality of the food or dining venue. After, Explorer we had high expectations.
Promenade:
My daughter loved the pizza and ice cream. I loved the endless hot tea and coffee. The cupcakes were very good and the clerk was very sweet.
Small but cozy and not noisy. In the middle of the ship. You will need to go to the promenade deck to get across the ship. This was very inconvenient at times but you are close to the dining room and the ice rink. that was a plus for dinner and the ice show. The cabin attendant was fabulous. We had a very nice view out the window and there was not any movement or sway. The TV did not swing all the way around but overall very nice cabin for two.
We loved Belize and as long as you are open to new cultures. The people are very nice just be respectful and have fun!
It is a waste of money, overpriced trinkets, overpriced food and the staff were rude.
