We have been cruising with Norwegian for several years now. In fact, I proposed to my wife on the Epic, we honeymooned on the Getaway, and we have another cruise scheduled for January of 2017 to the Western Caribbean. Most of our experiences have been positive, but miscommunication and poor customer service, made this the most disappointing cruise we have been on.
The issues started when we arrived at the Port of Los Angeles on 2/5/16 and continued throughout the cruise. Checking our bags went smoothly and since we were Casino guests, we were informed that we got to check in before everyone else so that was nice. After that things got bad. The Port of Los Angeles has no PA system, so all information is relayed by word of mouth. As a result, nobody knew when they could or couldn't board the vessel. People were guessing and if you asked 10 employees you got 10 different answers. We simply wanted to know where we fell in the boarding process...first?, second?, middle?, last? did it matter that were Casino guests? did it matter that we were Silver Latitude members? Nobody knew. Ultimately, everyone just started boarding and it was pure chaos.
We explored the ship as we waited for the bags to arrive. When the bags finally arrived, they were placed in front of the room next-door to ours (despite our room number being clearly written on the tag). Fortunately, I noticed and brought the bags to our room before our neighbors got them. Speaking of our neighbors....they were loud, like yelling at the top of your lungs loud and crazy drunk before 4pm on day one. That's nothing the ship can control (at least not in the booking process), but I knew we were in trouble.
Small, but clean and enough space to chill when you wanted to enjoy the "doing nothing" option of freestyle cruising.
