The short summary is this was a bland cruise. There was nothing wrong, but wasn't exceptional either, The exceptions were Sabatini's restaurant which was outstanding, and our cabin steward, Grace, who was very pleasant, and accommodating to our every request.

We were looking for a relatively short, 7 night cruise, for just a get away and unwind vacation after the 2015 holidays. Regal Princess is a new Large ship (3,600 guests) in her maiden season in the Caribbean. That makes her +/- 30% larger than the ships we've cruised on in the past.

We have to hand it to Princess, they have the embarkation and disembarkation process nailed. We arrived at the port about an hour before our scheduled boarding time, and were processed through and aboard with no delays. Disembarkation was the same. We were scheduled to arrive at the disembarkation location at 7:20 am, We arrived at 7:15 am, proceeded directly to the exit and were through deboarding, baggage claim, customs, and into our car in the parking lot by 7:40 am. Really a smooth process.

Cabin BB

The cabin was comfortable, well equipped, and well appointed though smaller than the equivalent class of cabin we have experienced on other lines and smaller ships.

Port Reviews

Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

Access to passenger drop off and parking is very convenient. The Princess pier is outside the main gate to Port Everglades so entry is very convenient. On the return, we were parked very near the elevators, and the garage is right across the street from the terminal. Payment for long term parking is easily accomplished by credit card. In 2016, the daily parking fee is $15.

Princess Cays

Went ashore and spent about a half hour sitting on the beach after spending time to find the clam shell we had rented, visited the bbq buffet for lunch, walked around a bit and exited to the local shops which mostly had common tourist goods not unique to the Caribbean.

St. Thomas

Stayed in the port area, didn't find any local crafts or art.

St. Maarten

Stayed in the port area, there were 4 other ships including Royal Caribbean's giant Allure of the Seas docked there while we were there. Shopping in the port area was commonplace. We chose not to go into town.
