This was our 11th cruise on RC. Our first cruise was on Enchantment in 2002, so we were excited to see how the ship had changed since its expansion and subsequent years of service. This was also our first 4-night trip, so we were curious to see the level of service provided when there is only limited time for staff to get to know the guests.
Our overall experience was excellent. Check-in was a breeze. We had only minutes in line, then were headed onboard. Youth staff had a desk just prior to the gangway which allowed us to get our son's wrist band without having to wait in line. I had not seen this on other ships.
The ship is in great shape. Some wear and rust is evident, but that is to be expected on a ship. The crew obviously worked hard to keep things clean and shiny. Some spaces were smaller than on other ships, and even the décor color seemed to differ from other RC ships. That said, I didn't feel anything was missing as compared to the larger ships. If someone places a premium on open promenade spaces and countless lounges, the Enchantment would probably disappoint. For those simply looking for a nice hotel that travels from port to port with a some options for entertainment, the Enchantment more than satisfies.
Room was nice. Plenty of storage. Typical cruise ship layout and amenities.
We didn't spend much time in the port. We arrived late the night before and stayed at the Comfort Inn. The weather was cold, so we didn't go out prior to heading to the ship. Airport, transportation and the hotel were all good.
Lots of shopping options within walking distance. Transportation readily available to island sights.
