Many changes on the Carnival Dream since we cruised on it in 2015. Now you have to sign a form saying when you want your room cleaned, in the morning or in the evening. Apparently they don't do both times any longer. We have been on 6 Carnival cruises and we were really disappointed this time. The cruise we took in January 2015 was also on the Carnival Dream but with more amenities that seem to have been taken away in 2016. We picked having our room cleaned in the evening and they were knocking on our door before we left for dinner. All the cruises before, they knew what dinner time you had and came to turned down you bed after you left for dinner, not any longer. The problem with picking a room cleaning time was that if we showered in the morning and then went on a excursion and wanted to take another shower before dinner, we had no clean or dry towels. Got tired of always having to call for some so we stopped.

As a Gold member I was always invited to the Captions reception but this year there was no invitation in my room. Was told they changed it now to only the levels above Gold. Another disappointment. There was obviously less crew and it did make a difference. Where they were always several crew members offering drinks on the decks, there was only one on the deck at the back of the ship, was always looking for him when we wanted another drink.

The pool area with 2 hot tubs at the back of the ship were always adults only, at least on the last 5 cruises I took. This year there were children all over and kids even took over one of the hot tubs and there were no parents in there with them. Why is that area not adults only again? There are 2 hot tubs on each side of the ship and not many people know there are there, but enough do, but this year the whole cruise they were all shut down. Why, no good reason given when asked. Another disappointment. This was the first time in 6 Carnival cruises that the food in the main dining room as lacking. Except for the Lobster night and Filet mignon night, it was a hard choice because nothing was standing out, just average food, nothing special. Zubin, the head waiter and Ben the assistant waiter were fantastic though. Excellent staff members, made every evening there funny and entertaining.

Port Reviews

Belize City

45 min. boat ride to a big sand bar in the middle of the ocean. Snorkel in groups but the day I was there was rough water and could not see many fish, just some coral. the water was beautiful though and you could buy food and drink there.

Roatan

Went to the beach and the water was absolutely beautiful and clear. Wonderful time there.

Cozumel

Went to Nachi Cocum, a private resort where for $55 for the day you got a 4 course meal, to which you could eat though out the day. All the drinks you want, a lawn chair under a Palapa tree, not sure how to spell that, and a swim up bar in the hot tub and a swimming pool. You could not a massage on the beach too for extra money. There are NO vendors on the beach trying to hawk their wares, which was fantastic. This was the 2nd time we went there and never disappointed. They only take 100 people a day so never crowded. Just look up Nachi Cocum online.

New Orleans

Came to New Orleans the day before the cruise and Mardi Gras was going on. So much fun.
