We sailed on the Fascination 21 years ago, Jan. 1995, when she was brand new. And after all this time and a few face lifts, she still is a great ship for first time cruisers or someone on a budget. We found the staff to be attentive and helpful at every turn. From Cabin Steward to Head Waiter to Customer Service. We enjoyed the shows as well as the comedian. The Serenity pool area is a welcomed addition. No Kids!
The port at Jacksonville was easy to access. We had prepaid our parking and arrived early (10:30am) so we had no waiting and drove right in. Upon arrival at the parking area we were informed that "prepaid" parking had reserved spots up front. PERFECT. As we parked, the porter was there with a cart for our luggage. Embarkation was simple with only a short wait till everyone was off the ship and we were onboard, enjoying lunch on the Lido deck by noon. Sushi, Italian, Mongolian Wok or Grilled Panini's are available. Dinner in the Main Dining room offered a nice variety. The same menu is available in the Lido for those who prefer to dress more casual or dine on there own schedule. Its not a Mega liner, but still a great ship.
We opted for the Porthole Cabin after reading a few reviews. The cabin was very roomy and the bathroom larger than anticipated. The location was perfect. Close to the dining room and the theater. Plenty of storage.
Rain dampened our day but not our enthusiasm. Donned our ponchos and water shoes and took a self guided walking tour.
We have been to Nassau many times and have never enjoyed a trip more.
