our group of 16 people spent several days in New Orleans, having a wonderful time, enjoying the Mardi gras festivities and trying the local cuisine, and touring. We are all well traveled, seniors and have cruised many many times on many lines - my husband and I will hit 100 cruises this year.
We had booked, along with one other couple in our group, a Penthouse suite - this was the smallest suite I have ever cruised in - it was like a nice sized balcony cabin with a tiny balcony - we had a couch as well as a chair and ottoman in the room so there was no room to move about - we ended up all gathering in the other suite as they had less furniture so more room - the balcony was full with two lounges and one little table - there was 6 inches between the bed and the wall - there is a useless wall and sliding glass door between the toilet and the sink in the bathroom - one couple had their door fall off onto them in the middle of the night - this only serves to make more work for the room stewards - they should be removed!! - we did have nice bathroom amenities, bathrobes, an umbrella, slippers and nice towels. Our room was made up about 3 pm each day so we often had to make it presentable ourselves as the group gathered or couples dropped in to see us.
the food in the restaurants and we tried them all was very good - we had pre paid and pre booked all of the alternative restaurants - after the first dinner we found out that they were now a la carte pricing and we were charged $77 more for our meal - they said that this had changed 3 weeks before - I still do not know why they didn't tell us - I could not find out what time the entertainment was each night before the cruise so I booked all meals at 7:30 - this meant we missed a lot of entertainment - we didn't have any trouble getting or enjoying drinks -
