We have sailed on the Caribbean Princess before. So when our TA showed us the price for this cruise we jumped on the deal.Had not sailed from Houston before so it was a new experience. The port is known as an iffy place to leave from this time of year. Winds and fog are the big problem. So that could be why the price was so low.
We are both retired. I am 70 and wife is 63. This was our 15th cruise. 6th with Princess. We have to drive about 60 miles to the closest airport so for a Sunday cruise we leave on Friday and stay over night by the airport. Then fly out on Saturday morning. Very early this time. 6.15 a m. Booked a room at the Comfort Suites near the Houston airport.
Hired a driver to take us to the cruise port. He dropped us off and we were set to battle lines. Then we remembered we are now Platinum. So walked past most of the people there after handing bags over to porters. Filled out health papers and got in the line. Thing was. There was no line! We went to the counter and got our cruise cards and were onboard in 10-15 minutes tops. Our room was C309. And extended balcony. Our first.Room wa all set to live in for the next week.Went to lunch in the buffet. Normal food. Nice thing was the help I got. Long distances I use crutches. One of the guys working the buffet helped me with my tray. This happened anytime we ate there. Thumbs up for the service. When we got back to the room our bags were already there. Ran into a couple of glitches. The safe wouldn`t lock. Showed a low battery. And someone had thrown a sandwich on to our balcony. Got in touch with our cabin steward Aneel. He got right on the job. Balcony was cleaned and cafe fixed. Later in the week a light bulb blew out and a lamp broke. Again Aneel was right on the problem. It was fixed in no time.
