This was not disclosed prior to booking or arriving for the cruise, this was the last cruise the Carnival Fantasy would sail prior to dry docking for a full refurbishment. The cost was not significantly less than any other similar time frame on the same class of ship from the same port, etc. All things being equal, it was not discounted enough for the state the ship was in. Not only was the ship looking very shabby, the crew was clearly trying to finish up certain foods and had already run out of other foods. As the week went on our food choices got more and more limited, and others (perishable foods) got more and more generous. Salad, for example, by the last 3 days of the cruise it was slimy and limp and inedible. Cheese, on the other hand, there was a huge amount of cheese (always the same kind) that they clearly had too much of and were trying to get rid of.

The furnishing in the ship were well worn, chairs were wholly sat-out, you couldn't get out of some of them without the aid of another person. Tiles on the floors were missing. Lots of things just didn't work. The bathrooms had numerous clogs and issues. In all, it was in great need of repair, they put it off too long. I think it should have been disclosed to use prior to booking so we would have been prepared, or they should have charged a lot less.

The food was really the most disappointing thing. The same things over and over and over and over....so dull. And it just got worse as the week went on and the offerings got slimmer.

Cabin Review

Ocean View

Cabin 6E

The cabin was fine, but again, well used. The shower didn't drain properly, it was like the plastic pan had warped and no longer sloped to the drain. The toilet clogged multiple times (we spoke to other guests who experienced the same thing) even with light use.

Port Reviews

Charleston

I've been to Charleston many times and love the city. The timing of this cruise was good as it gave time on the day of departure and the day of arrival to explore Charleston.

Freeport

The Garden of the Groves was okay, I'm glad I got to see it, but I didn't need to be there for the whole hour that we were given. It is not that big and I saw it thoroughly in about 20 minutes.

Nassau

This was a very fun tour. The ride out to the "submarine" was great. It's not really a submarine though, it's a boat with a deep hull, windows in the hull, and some tiny seats in the hull to sit on. It was fine, though the name was slightly misleading. The hull is enclosed, so once you're downstairs in the seats the door is closed through the remainder of the tour. We saw three different reefs, saw lots of fish, turtles, and sharks. It was a good choice and it didn't take all day so we were able to shop in Nassau later.
