We sailed on Serenade during their southern Caribbean cruise on January 25, was not a good trip. This ship has a lot of issues mostly stemming from that the ship’s facilities cannot handle the volume of passengers it carries.
We sailed following a major snow storm that rolled up the east coast, and the captain stated in his Captain’s Corner Q&A session that the ship was actually 400 passengers under capacity and yet you could not get chairs on the pool deck unless you went up at 7am and picked one out as many people did blocking them off and leaving them unattended for hours at a time. We watched two people hold nine chairs for an entire day. The same was true in the main theater as unless you went in 45 minutes to an hour ahead of the show time you would have standing room only. Because we had early dining that concluded between 7:30 and 8pm we missed many of the shows or had seating that was not able to easily view the stage, and the seating was the least comfortable I’ve ever been in on any ship. Also the elevators cannot handle the traffic levels, many times the only way to get on an elevator was to ride it to the bottom in order to ride it to the top.
The ship only has three hot tubs and the first two days they were luke warm water and the jets never did function properly. In the Windjammer tables were at a minimum, twice we had to leave our plates of food behind and leave without eating because we couldn’t find any seating available. There is only one bread station and it in conjunction with the egg frying station so you have to sort through a long line for either.
Cabin stewart was very cheery young fellow, very friendly and accomodating. Kept room in good condition , but balcony was dirty glass covered with salt for entire cruise
