Another passenger reviewed the same cruise I'm reviewing. I was with a party of 8 and from the moment I stepped on the ship, I felt that this couldn't be a Royal Caribbean ship. It didn't FEEL like the other ships I'd experienced in the past. Be that as it may, I tried NOT to go on my feeling. I was able to settle into my room quickly - my cabin was spacious, clean and had plenty of storage for a 10 day cruise to the Eastern Caribbean.
We had lunch immediately in the Wind Jammer. Food was acceptable. The party I travelled with started to notice that service (clean up of plates, etc) seemed slow and not to have the crew as experienced in the past. During the evening departure from Cape Liberty, NJ-we sat in the solarium having drinks. Not a waiter was to be seen walking around asking if you wanted drinks. Huh? Speaking of which, As the trip unfolded, it wasn't until 4-5 days toward the close of the trip did waiters come to through the Windjammer and ask if you wanted more coffee or any sort of beverage. I thought - where've you been thus far? Speaking of the Windjammer, I picked up a ham n swiss sandwich and had to do a double take - where was the meat or cheese? I've never seen such a stingy made sandwich! They gave you 1 pc. of thinly sliced cheese and ham!
Classic dining was an experience - the 1st night we had a waiter who was lost. Between the kitchen screwing up and the waiter unsure of what was going on then entire meal, it became more and more painful to live through. We requested a different waiter for the next evening dinner. All was fine with the new waiter. The menu is limited (the choices never changed) and the portions smaller than expected. A dinner choice was pasta n' meatballs-I didn't know you could bounce a meatball! Gone are the days of going to the SAME dining room every evening. Revolving from one dining room to another didn't impress me.
