I've been on three Carnival cruises since 2008: Conquest, Magic, and Freedom. I think it's time I move on from Carnival. Keeping in mind that this is a short cruise with only one port of call, I still found this cruise to be lacking the quality I had found in the past. Also, while I hate to read reviews here on CC complaining about how everything has been cut back, I have to admit that what I have read from others is right.
The cabin was your standard issue Carnival balcony cabin. It's small, but there's enough room to put all of your stuff away. We didn't interact with our steward much, but he did remember our names when we saw him in the hall which was nice.
The steakhouse remains the best place to eat on board. For less than an entree would cost at a place like Ruth's Chris you're getting an entire meal, with service and quality to match. My filet was tender and lobster was excellent. Tip: book the first night on board and you'll get a free bottle of house wine or 50% off the other wines on their list. The house red is a Chilean merlot and it was on par with an everyday wine I would drink at home. I highly recommend the steakhouse.
