Sail Date: Jan 2016

This was my fourth cruise, but the first on Royal Caribbean. The others have been on Carnival. We were impressed with the overall look and feel of the ship--you could tell it had some fairly recent updates. It was clean and nicely decorated, had great signage including digital maps on every floor. Loved the Royal Prominade, and the Solarium. Casino was good, much bigger than other ships we have been aboard. I read many reviews here prior to sailing and they were very helpful and I agree with pretty much everything I had read.

Things that were outstanding: service overall, our cabin with balcony (on 12th deck--awesome) was nicer than many hotel rooms and had good storage space, room steward, solarium area and bar, Giovanni's (outstanding! so glad we sprung for the extra cost), casino, decor. Also liked the ease of buying digital photos from the kiosks (versus searching through prints), although i wish they had cheaper, smaller packages.

Other comments: embarkation not fun - this seems like the port issue, not a RC issue but huge snaking line to get through, not a lot of good direction when being sent from one room to another or one line to another. Disembarking was a little delayed but still WAY better than our Carnival disembarking process in the past. Entertainment was a little lacking. Production show was good, enjoyed the battle of the sexes game, the newlywed game, and karaoke. I did have a small issue with scheduling. It seemed that often an activity was right during our 8pm dinner time--karaoke on every night except one, the movies shown on the top deck by the pool...that was frustrating. I think next time we would pick the earlier dinner time. I also thought the food was just ok in the Windjammer, but the dining room was good (not great, but good).
