Was travelling with a family group, my husband, senior citizen dad and my sister and her daughter. There were more than enough activities on board to keep all of us happy and occupied. Overall a great cruise and the Panama Canal itself was really interesting to watch even if it is just great big locks!
Embarkation was reasonably smooth and efficient and disembarkation even more so. Some queues but nothing excessive. No complaints there.
On-board did seem crowded at times and I think the additional cabins added made a noticeable difference, particularly in the dining room and the cabin steward areas as both seemed under-staffed and over-worked. No reflection on the staff themselves as they were working their hardest, just didn't seem to be the usual level of service we have had in the past from Princess. By contrast, bar staff was plentiful and extremely efficient. We did the anytime dining but my Dad prefers eating at 5pm every day so we either phoned at 8am for reservations or stood in line at 4:30. Both worked but next time I would go for fixed time if travelling with him (as long as we could get the early sitting) just to avoid the inconvenience, although we did have some pretty good in line parties going by the end of the week as it was the same people queueing every night!!
Cabin was a typical Princess balcony cabin. Efficiently laid out and no surprises. Space was fine for two people. Bathroom was small and shower did seem even smaller than usual. Balcony itself was nice size and perfect for the Panama canal day because we were on the right side of the ship so could see all the action without having to jostle for space on the open deck areas. Even with some rough weather days, motion was minimal. On the con side, cabin was directly opposite the elevators though so a bit noisy that way. Worst was that it was directly opposite a service closet so we were awakened early every day as the steward prepared his service cart with all the glasses clinking etc. Would ask for a room further away next time.
