We just completed our 10th cruise (2 Holland, Princess, Celebrity, 2 Royal, 3 Norwegian) on the Norwegian Breakaway. It was a two week sailing and I can't say enough about how pleased we were with this cruise. I was a bit hesitant because of the mixed reviews. We had never been on one of the very large ships before. The food was excellent. The specialty restaurants (Cagney's and Moderno) were top notch of course, but also the buffets, O'Sheehan's, and the complementary dining rooms were all excellent too. In particular, the salads in all restaurants were top quality. Beef offerings such as prime rib, beef tenderloin, and steak were always tender and cooked perfectly.
We experienced the best entertainment we have ever had on a cruise. Burn the Floor and Rock of Ages main shows are not to be missed. In addition, the evening entertainment such as the comedians, Howl At the Moon Dueling Pianos, and Angel were so fun and entertaining. Our room (spa balcony room) was very nice with plenty of storage. We never experienced a staff member that was anything but pleasant and accommodating. We always were able to find a quiet spot on the ship to lay out.
We heard disembarkation was a nightmare so we waiting to be one of the last groups off the ship. It was easy. The only downside was maybe the itinerary was less than spectacular (Southern Caribbean) but the ship offered so many things to do on board we were always entertained and busy trying to decide what to do next. If unique ports, and a more formal/traditional sailing experience is what you are looking for, don't book this cruise. Otherwise highly recommend it.
