Cabin: Aft-Facing Balcony

First time cruising with Norwegian; leery of all the negative reviews. After a few months the crew and staff seem to have found their routine. Found it to be in between Holland America and Carnival in terms of clientele, food, and service. Best part the chance to dress much more casually.

The ship was originally named the Pride of Hawaii, and the decor still reflected the Hawaiian theme. Some called it gaudy, but no more than on any other ship we have been on. Enjoyed the bright colors, Hawaiian prints, and shell collections.

Admittedly we have been spoiled with the food and service on HAL. But this wasn't bad. Best explained by breakfast choices. HAL provides citrus that has been supremed, where as NCL gives you quartered chunks including the skin. NCL servers did not ask how we wanted our eggs cooked, the standard was a very runny, whites included sunny side up. Best choice the omelets.

Cabin Review

Aft-Facing Balcony

Smaller than expected, disappointed in size of balcony. Bathroom very compact. Interestingly still reflects the European nature of the cruise line, with an ashtray in the toilet compartment, though no smoking allowed

Port Reviews

Houston

Great embarkation experience. Husband disabled vet, got there early enough was able to park in the front row. Porter assisted taking bag out of car.

Cozumel

Standard touristy shops and expensive beer.

Roatan

Limited shopping, items similar to any other tourist trap. Mahogany Bay a much better porting location.
