Flew into San Juan a few days prior to the cruise. Flying in early turned out to be great. Not only did we have time to unwind, we also got to enjoy the San Sebastian street Festival. Old San Juan was quite crowded with people enjoying the festival events. We took public bus from our hotel to the Old City (75 cents) and then the free trolley to get around to most places. Old San Juan is a US national historic site. Visited 2 of the 3 old forts, ate great food, and had a nice time walking around the revitalized historic area. Also, picked up some toiletries at Walgreens. We enjoyed our time in the Old City so much that we returned on the turn around day.

Check in for the cruise was quick and easy. We enjoyed eating at the Pool Grill which made very good hot dogs and burgers. Our cabin, 7154, was ready by 1 pm. We had our luggage within an hour after boarding. We spent the afternoon at the pool. We dined in select and enjoyed the flexibility. After a few nights, we requested a certain waiter who was superb. Menus were the same for both weeks of the cruises. On the second week, we ate in the Buffet when the MDR had the Top Chefs menu. I don't like that menu. The Buffet for dinner was a nice option. It was Greek night. The nightly sushi was delicious. For the rest of the 2 weeks, we reserved the same table in the MDR.

Ocean view Cafe was good most of the time. Even when it was crowded, we managed to find a clean table quickly. Staff cleaned off tables promptly. Food choices were okay. Cakes were fabulous. Cupcake Day was my favorite. I did not like carrying the heavy plates. Wish that the plates were lighter and that there were trays. To get a meal with drink, it took many trips to and from the table. Often the drink stations were missing some items....cups, ice, spoons, coffee, etc. It was unusual to visit one drink station and get what you wanted. MDR breakfast was slow. We ate there when we were not in a rush to go anywhere.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Ocean View with Balcony 2A

Cabin 2A

Cabin was in an excellent location between mid-ship and aft elevators. It was very quiet. Lots of good storage space. Cabin stewards were very good at keeping the cabin clean and supplying toiletries, etc. No request was too much. Veranda was standard size with 2 chairs and a small table. The overhang from deck 8 provided some shade and protection from rain/wind.
