My husband and I have cruised with Royal Caribbean and Celebrity several times (12+ day cruises), but decided to give NCL a try for this shorter cruise. We disembarked pretty much on the same page, NOT a cruise ship we'd recommend.
We've become pretty accustomed over the years 7-10 years on Royal Caribbean and Celebrity with top notch service in the restaurants, bars and lounges, and pretty much anywhere and everywhere we went on the ships. Quite the change when it came to the service on the NCL Jade.
In the main dining rooms the service was as unpredictable as the weather. Sometimes it was good but a major of the time it was pretty bad. We shouldn't have to wait 20+ minutes for a server to take our dinner order. We should have to ask for a wine steward. And NOT ONCE did our server make any attempt to point out or suggest nightly specialties. It was pretty pathetic. Then one night we chose to dine at Jasmines; what a joke! There was maybe a half dozen tables seated in the restaurant when we arrived and were seated, and we sat for over 15 minutes and were never acknowledged. We got up and just left. The hostess inquired where we were going, we hold her the situation pretty much to the point, which didn't do a whole lot of good. We told a restaurant manager about the entire situation and how disappointed we were.
Our cabin and our cabin steward was pretty much the highlight of the cruise. Although the cabins were on the small side when compared to Royal Caribbean and Celebrity, our cabin was always cleaned and tidy, and the steward always was very friendly, spoke to us, and addressed us by name.
Loved the port! Very clean and organized.
Was okay, not the greatest excursion we've gone on. Guide was pretty weak in terms of factual knowledge.
Guides made the excursion - very knowledgeable!!!!
Wasn't anything exceptional, pretty run down area were ported.
