Sail Date: Jan 2016
Cabin: Interior Stateroom

We chose this ship based on itinerary and the fact there was only 1 sea day. Although the ship does show it's age in the cabin furnishings and bath, it was clean and comfortable. The staff was polite throughout the ship. The passenger demographics were about a 50/50 split of Australians and Chinese.

Although we embarked early around 12 noon, other passengers that arrived later in the afternoon waited in line 3-4 hours to get on the ship.

The main complaint we have is with the food. In the 15 cruises we have taken with various cruise lines, this was the worst food we have had. In both the main dining room and buffet the food was tasteless, overcooked or undercooked, cakes dry, some menu items in the dining room were unavailable several nights. The breakfast items on the buffet were identical throughout the cruise with no variation whatsoever, not that it was good anyway.

Cabin Review

Interior Stateroom

Cabin M

Although the ship does show it's age in the cabin furnishings and bath, it was clean and comfortable. The cabins really do need a remodel. Our steward did an adequate job. We chose an interior cabin which was very quiet. We would not recommend booking a cabin that faces the interior promenade, which had loud music and lights flashing around.

Port Reviews

Singapore

Singapore is a very nice, clean and safe city. Worth spending a few days there. A night boat ride on the river is very nice, as well as the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest by the Marina Bay Sands. Lots of shopping and good ethnic food.

Kelang (Kuala Lumpur)

We took a taxi into KL, which has horrendous traffic. The ride in was 90 minutes each way on a Saturday, so will be worse during the week. There is really nothing special to see to justify making the trip. The most interesting thing was the central market.

Penang

We visited the reclining Buddha temple, a local food shop and a short ride along the waterfront area.

Langkawi

We booked a mangrove on our own directly with Dev Tours. The tour consisted of a boat ride down the river through the mangroves, a walk through the bat cave, a ride into open water, a short beach swimming stop (felt great!) and finally a lunch at a floating restaurant. We saw this was also a popular area for kayaking.
