This was our 7th NCL cruise and our first cruise on one of their mega ships (Getaway) and it did not disappoint. This was possibly the BEST food experience we have had on any cruise. We had the specialty dining package and it was worth every penny.
As far as the specialty dining goes all of the restaurants had fantastic service and the food was top notch. (Don't be afraid to ask for food the way you like it cooked, they will accomodate). Be sure to have a breakfast and a lunch at the Flamingo bar and grill, it is less crowded in the beginning of the cruise and the food was excellent. The buffet had a wide variety of dishes but at peak times it can get crowded. For late night snacks we found O'Shehans to be a great spot to take in a quick bite and to watch the entertainment below in the atrium.
For a large ship we found that the Getaway was very easy to navigate and the staff was very accommodating. We feel that the staff on NCL is more accommodating and outgoing compared to RCL and Carnival. Be sure to tip you room steward if he / she goes that extra mile as they did for us.
Though the balcony is on the smaller side as mentioned in other reviews we did not find this to be much of an issue but of course we would like to see a slightly larger balcony on their future ships (enough room for a small table perhaps???)
The rest of the room was well designed and very comfortable. The bathroom was functional and water pressure was excellent.
The American dollar does not go as far here as in other ports of call. The city is nice and there are many nice restaurants but are they as good as you can get on the ship????
This is one of our favorite ports of call. Take a taxi to the other side of the island or just find a local restaurant for a nice lunch. Cozumel never seems to dissappoint.
Due to weather conditions we had to skip this stop. though we have been there before and we found it a very nice private island.
