This was our 2nd cruise on Splendor, so knew about the pink! The ship is going in dry-dock soon and in some places, it showed. Not that the ship wasn't clean, it was. But there were worn and stained carpets as well as chairs and sofas. Some chairs you wondered about sitting in.
The crew was wonderful except for our waitress and waiter in the Steakhouse. We felt looked down on and pretty much ignored by them. It was our 44th anniversary and we were looking for a nice romantic evening. We left feeling unhappy. But our servers in the Gold Pearl restaurant we quite the opposite. Head waiter Antonio Jr. was amazing. Helpers Robert and Johnny were fun and friendly. Our only complaint about dining was the tired menu. We've been cruising with Carnival since 2004 and aside from a few changes, it's the same menu. I can pretty much tell you what a 7 day cruise menu will be.
We had aft balcony 7453. Our steward Hary was a special guy. Friendly. He made us a 3 tier towel "cake" for our anniversary. We've cruised on many anniversaries and no one has ever done that.
Love the wake view. Loved the steward. Plenty of storage.
Took a 1 hour tour to see a bit of the island. They dropped us off in a shopping area and we walked around the town. Stopped in a bar (Toro Salao) and had a couple of drinks and an appetizer.
We have been here many times and it was very warm, so we went out to the Internet Cafe and to buy a few things and then back to the cool ship.
Flew in the night before. It was raining and very windy when we woke up. We waited for a couple of hours and the rain stopped and we headed to the ship about 11 am.
