My wife and I just returned from a perfect cruise vacation to the Bahamas aboard the Enchantment of the Seas. This was our first cruise together and was an early anniversary celebration. Winter Storm Jonas tried his darnedest to keep us from our vacation, canceling our SouthWest flights out of Portland, Maine, but fortunately Boston isn't very far away so we ended up catching a Delta flight to Orlando a day earlier. We put up in the Country Inn & Suites in Port Canaveral to put us close to the port. If I were to do this over again I probably would've picked a different hotel. It wasn't terrible, but the beds were rather uncomfy and the breakfast was a little rough as well. But it certainly wasn't enough to ruin the vacation by any stretch.

I've cruised once before and so am a Gold Member of the Crown and Anchor Society, so that was a nice perk to get us through the security check lines and check in desk a bit quicker. With that we walked through the gauntlet of photogs and Chops Grille salesman and boarded the boat. It was a picture perfect afternoon, my wife and I plopped ourselves at a table on the pool deck and enjoyed some tropical daiquiris. We were entertained by the pelicans soaring above and some small brown birds having a picnic of leftover scraps from some previous diners.

We had a standard, outside, ocean view stateroom on the second level. Obviously, they aren't spacious but we knew that going into it. And when you have a high-end memory foam bed at home, pretty much any hotel-type bed is going to be a downgrade, But the beds were fine. Being our anniversary, I had ordered (as a surprise) to be delivered to our stateroom the anniversary decoration package. It features a magnetic heart-shaped door sign, a mirror cling, some streamer/collage type things hanging from the ceiling by magnets, as well as a special beach towel and pillow cases. It was a perfect touch that my wife really seemed to enjoy. I guess the only critique of our stateroom is that the shower head did have some leakage issues and our phone didn't work, but again, nothing so troublesome that it put any kind of damper on the vacation.

Cabin Review

Panoramic Ocean View Stateroom

Cabin F

Cabin was great! Being on the second level, the ocean view is two rectangular windows above the bed. The sound of the ship cruising the ocean makes for great ambient noise to go to sleep. The only issue was the shower head which leaked a bit and didn't always stay in place, so water sometimes ended up on the floor outside the shower. But the material the bathroom floor is made of makes for quick and easy mop up with a towel. Also we had an issue with our phone not working properly, but there are plenty of hallway phones. We honestly didn't spend much time in the room aside from sleeping and changing from daytime to nighttime attire. But I think if one did like to spend more time in their stateroom, this would be a good one to pick. It's in a great location, midship and tucked away from the public rooms, so no noise to speak of.

Port Reviews

Port Canaveral (Orlando)

Embarkation and de-embarkation were smooth and straightforward. Being a Crown and Anchor member makes going through security and signing in a bit faster.

Nassau

Beach break was amazing! Perfect weather, nice quiet beach with beautiful clear waters. Tickets for a free lunch and drink are included. Nice stalls nearby if you need to pickup some small items you need for the beach. I picked up some cheap sunglasses and my wife got a hair tie. Wonderful excursion!
